SaaS in Logistics Reforms how India Delivers. Intra-city Deliveries now Possible Within Minutes With Parsel

Launched in July 2015, Parsel has grown a strong user base to complete 10,000 deliveries per day using just half of their seed fund investment. The Indian startup delivery app aggregates the highly fragmented logistics industry into a ready to use delivery infrastructure. It addresses the shipping needs of anyone for anything from documents to hyper local needs to food deliveries. For B2B operations, businesses can use Parsel by just ‘plugging in’ and start delivering. Direct consumer users can simply download the app and have a rental system ready on their doorsteps within minutes.

A One-stop Solution for all Personal and Business Logistics NeedsUsing the mobile app or booking shipments online, it connects commercial vehicle drivers (bikes, tempos, trucks) to customers looking for resources to move their products across the city instantly. Parsel addresses the pain points of operations like multi-vendor management, driver tracking, negotiations, driver query management, and document handling. All the deliveries are equipped with live tracking, collating and deconstructing multiple drop point deliveries into quickest and most optimised route planning systems.

Its comprehensive and lean B2B solution enables businesses to transfer their delivery requirements on the Parsel technology and concentrate on selling their product. “A ready on-demand experienced infrastructure provides for renting on daily, hourly and per trip basis. This helps them face a downtime and a time of over booking with no hassle,” says Rakesh KS, Co-founder on Parsel.

Parsel looks at its technology as a benchmark to how logistics need to evolve as an industry in India. “As a Saas platform, we have done API integration with our clients to automatically handle their delivery requirements on real time. We vision our technology to replace human operations making the system more efficient,” says Akhil Sharma, Co-founder of Parsel.

Parsel has received a seed funding of $ 0.6 million in August from Angel investor Nimir Mehta, which has been put into the expansion of the services in Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Pune and Bangalore. More than 400 delivery agents are completing deliveries with partners including Flipkart, Snapdeal, Amazon, ITC, Local Banya, Ferns and Petals, Mother dairy, Bisleri, Delhivery, Ecom Express, On-Dot couriers, food startups and huge base of retail clients including restaurants, pharmacies and groceries.

The company is now looking at scaling this concept from a common man’s ‘send my stuff across’ to aligning with large logistics houses in the country and are going after funding. This will make any truck, big or small driving on Indian roads equipped with technology marked by its owner/ leased by a company. This has several benefits – apart from being able to be tracked live at any time the pricing in effect is transparent and hence fair. Availability in real time can be monitored, which makes it possible for more bookings per vehicle leading to higher efficiency.
